The Saskatoon Blades went for a big, defensive defenceman with their pick Wednesday in the CHL Import Draft.
Samuel Barcik is an 18-year-old right-shot blue-liner from Slovakia, who stands 6’2 1/2″ tall and weighs 191 pounds, according to the draft list on the C-H-L website. He played for Slovakia at the recent Double-I-H-F World Under-18 Championship in April. He is expected to be at the Bridge City Bunch’s training camp in late August and join Belarussian winger Egor Sidorov as the Blue and Gold’s two imports for the upcoming season.
In addition, the Prince Albert Raiders made two selections Wednesday – 19-year-old Polish left winger Krysztof Macias at 15th overall and 17-year-old Czech right winger Matej Kubiesa at 75th overall. Following is the news release from the Blades…..
