The province is looking for prospective proponents to develop four Supportive Family Living Programs. It’s to keep children in their homes rather than going into foster care.
As was announced in the provincial budget, $1.3 million is going toward expanding this service to 17 families in Moose Jaw, Fort Qu’Appelle, Prince Albert and Saskatoon. The goal is to keep vulnerable children and families together while parents address safety concerns. The program provides an urgent, temporary, safe and supportive living environment. Each space has room for four families and in Prince Albert, there will be room for five.
Last year, the province funded $9.6 million for 13 Supportive Family Living Programs, with 137 spaces across the province, which helped about 2,500 children in need to remain safely in their family homes. Details on the Request for Proposals is at www.sasktenders.ca and the deadline is August 8th.
