Just after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Saskatoon Police received an anonymous call about someone getting into a vehicle armed with a gun. Officers quickly located the vehicle in the 800 block of 22nd Street West and a high-risk vehicle stop was conducted. Six people were taken into custody without incident. A .22 calibre sawed-off rifle and ammunition were seized from the vehicle.
Police were told a 27-year-old man was abducted at gunpoint and unlawfully confined, with the intent to cause harm. He wasn’t injured.
Three females, aged 32, 23 and 17 are facing firearms-related offences, including use of a firearm to commit an abduction. A 28-year-old man is charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited and a 51-year-old woman was released without charges. The suspects and victim are believed to know each other.
