Early construction work and site preparation for the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital Project is moving ahead.
The Design Early Works Phase includes geotechnical drilling, utility work and the construction of a new parking lot – plus creating the designs for a new acute care tower and for renovations to the current facility. The Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC) is partnering with the Government of Saskatchewan, through the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement, and the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) on this project. The PAGC is providing feedback on the design of the facility. PCL Construction Management Inc. is leading the Design Early Works Phase and will engage with local and indigenous businesses and trades to deliver services for the project. The number of beds in Victoria Hospital will increase from the current 173 to 242 on opening day with a plan to expand further as needed. The project will also include a larger emergency department and enhanced medical imaging services, including an M-R-I. PCL and the SHA are committed to reducing disruption during construction and to provide alternate parking for staff and visitors to the Victoria Hospital with no impact to patients or patient care anticipated as of now.
