To recognize everyone who works to make Saskatoon a safer and healthier place to live, on Thursday the Snowbirds will be making several passes over the city as their Salute to a Safe Saskatoon.
Brian Swidrovich, Board of Directors member for the Saskatoon Crime Stoppers, says this appearance will be similar to the Canadian flyovers that recognized frontline health workers battling covid-19 impacts in 2020.
He says it is rare that appreciation can be issued to so many different professionals that do different things within the community, and he couldn’t think of a better way to encompass everyone under one day of acknowledgement.
Swidrovich says the flyover will acknowledge humble hometown heroes from all aspects of the community such as STARS, RCMP, Saskatoon Police Service, doctors, nurses, specialists, physiotherapists, crisis care workers, teachers, senior home care workers, and the list goes on.
The air team will be using the river as a show line after coming from Moose Jaw that morning. The tribute will take place from precisely 11:55am until 12:25pm. Prior to that, the CAF SkyHawks Parachute Team will also be participating with a Parachute Salute to the community’s veterans from 11:15am-12:25pm in Herzberg Park off of Acadia Drive.
