The provincial Opposition is taking the Saskatchewan Party government to task for the quiet release of the 2022-23 annual reports for the various Crown Corporations.
Traditionally, the reports are released in early July with technical briefings for journalists and a public news conference. This year, the Crown reports were released last Friday afternoon, nearly one month later than usual.
The most disturbing number was a $172.1 million dollar net loss at SaskPower. SaskEnergy and SGI Canada reported substantially lower profits, while SaskTel had similar numbers to the previous year.
“What those reports show is that under (Premier) Scott Moe’s leadership, our Crowns are bleeding hundreds of millions of dollars of lost profit,” said NDP leader Carla Beck at a news conference in Regina on Tuesday morning.
The NDP says in total, Crown net profits dropped over $350-million dollars. (with files from CKRM)
