A man has been arrested after a Saskatoon Police investigation into two incidents where it’s alleged he falsely identified himself as an officer. Just before 9 in the morning last Saturday, police responded to a hotel in the 600 block of Spadina Crescent East about a report of a disturbance involving a man impersonating a peace officer.
Police were told a man approached a woman and child, identified himself as police and accused of her abduction. They went into the hotel to get help and the man followed her inside causing a disturbance. Bystanders intervened and the man fled. Then on Tuesday, police were told of a similar incident that happened on Monday afternoon in the 70 block of Campus Drive, where a man approached a woman, said he was an officer and offered to escort her through the area.
She declined and he left.
Through video evidence, investigators have confirmed the same person is responsible for both. A 32-year-old man from Redvers, Saskatchewan is charged with two counts each of impersonating a peace officer, criminal harassment and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.
