Pierceland RCMP had previously released a suspect sketch after a report of an armed older male on August 2nd on Highway #55, east of Pierceland.
Now the Federaton of Sovereign Indigenous Nations says the incident was racial in nature and involved a non-Indigenous farmer driving a tractor who confronted an Indigenous woman. They say he threatened her life.
FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron, in a statement to media released on Monday, said, “It’s far too often we hear how racist attitudes from rural Saskatchewan impact our people and put them in danger.”
He also indicated the situation under investigation has undertones of the Colten Boushie incident. Pierceland RCMP the individual did not report physical injuries to police.
RCMP gave a description of the suspect as an older male, with a heavy build and balding white hair. He was wearing a black cowboy hat, a blue plaid shirt, brown suspenders, black boots and wire-framed glasses. He was driving a green tractor hauling hay bales.
