The Saskatoon Fire Department says it was called out shortly before 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon after a Sea Doo hit a sand bar.
The Sea Doo had flipped over south of the Berry Barn on the river and one person was hurt.
STARS, ambulance and RCMP also responded. STARS managed to find a landing point on a sand bar and the Saskatoon Fire Department water rescue team transported a male patient to the waiting helicopter. He was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
Firefighters on the fire engine aided in getting the Sea Doo upright and a female who was also on the machine but not injured was transported back to Saskatoon with the Battalion Chief.
Fire department officials remind residents that the South Saskatchewan River is unpredictable due to lower water levels, hidden sand bars and a changing bottom due to the rate of flow of the water in the river.
