A 31-year-old man who police were looking for in connection to a shooting outside of a home on the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation has been located. On August 8th, a man was injured and transported to hospital by STARS and at the time, RCMP reported he was in serious but stable condition.
Ahtahkakoop RCMP along with officers from the Battlefords RCMP Crime Reduction Team and the Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant on the Cree Nation on Sunday afternoon. Two men were arrested without incident.
Thirty-one-year-old Dominic Ahenakew’s charges include attempted murder, pointing a firearm and possession of a prohibited firearm while being prohibited. Thirty-two-year-old Lanny Joseph was arrested on several outstanding warrants. His charges include assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime and break and enter to a business.
