The Sexual Assault Centres from Regina and area and from the Battlefords and area have expressed concern about the provincial government’s announcement that third-party organizations will not be able to provide presentations on topics like sexual violence and healthy relationships. Official Opposition Justice Critic Nicole Sarauer (sour) says in a written statement, “Our province has some of the highest rates of domestic violence and sexual assault in the country. Banning sexual assault centres from presenting to youth in our schools will only make these problems even worse.” She adds that it makes even less sense when taking into consideration the Ministry of Justice provides funding to some of these groups to provide these presentations in schools.
