The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team is investigating an arrest in Prince Albert where a 25 year old man was seriously injured. SIRT received notification from the Prince Albert Police Service Tuesday morning about an incident that had occurred overnight.
The Incident Response Team says in a news release that early Tuesday morning around 3, Prince Albert Police were in a vehicle pursuit with a motorcycle, followed by a brief pursuit on foot. During the search for the driver of the motorcycle, a Police Service Dog was deployed and a 25 year old man was seriously injured. Officers provided first aid until EMS arrived and transported him to hospital. He was later released from hospital into police custody with follow-up medical treatment required.
SIRT’s investigation will examine police conduct during the incident, but the Police Service maintains the responsibility for the investigation into the man and his actions.
