The Saskatchewan Indian and Gaming Authority presented a cheque for $100,000, as a major donor at the Synergy 8 Drive for Kids Dinner earlier this week. The event was to raise funds for a million-dollar portable pediatric MRI machine for the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital.
SIGA Presidents and CEO, Zane Hansen, says the MRI sponsorship is one of their many sponsorships.
He explains that SIGA is a non-profit corporation which reinvests all net revenue back into the province. Casino net revenue is redistributed, with 50 per cent to the First Nations Trust, which then goes to the 74 First Nations in Saskatchewan, 25 per cent to Community Development Corporations which reinvest the money back into local community initiatives and 25 per cent to the provincial General Revenue Fund.
SIGA also sets aside $1.3 million annual for its Community Investment Program, which sponsors community events, programming and fundraising initiatives.
