Calgary Police spent several hours separating up to 150 people in a situation police describe as “two groups engaged in violence.” The call came in around 5 p.m. Saturday from a northeast Calgary community of Falconridge.
Police were still investigating around 10 o’clock Saturday night after spending hours de-escalating the situation which included many of those involved brandishing weapons.
They were asking Calgary city residents to avoid the neighbourhood and said their officers were working with the groups involved to maintain public peace with the primary goal of ensuring public safety.
