RECAP FOR SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD, 2023
This past weekend for Huskies Athletics saw the Men’s Football team open their season on the road in Manitoba, while the Men’s Soccer team tried to avoid the poor air quality and find their first win of the season had their home opener on Sunday but had to call the game early due to poor air quality.

HUSKIES FOOTBALL RECAP:
On Friday, Huskies Football got their season underway in Winnipeg against the University of Manitoba Bisons rallying back in the second half to a 30-27 victory to begin their season off on a winning note.
The Huskies were down 25-7 at halftime, with quarterback Anton Amundrud throwing only one touchdown pass in the first half. The second half is were Amundrud and the offence turned the game around, throwing three touchdown passes to grab a 30-25 lead late in the fourth and eventually hanging on for a 30-27 win.
Quarterback Anton Amundrud threw for 313 yards and 4 touchdown passes, while also throwing 3 interceptions.

HUSKIES MEN’S SOCCER RECAP:
It was a tough weekend for the Men’s Soccer team as they had to battle poor air quality all weekend. Friday evening was supposed to be the teams home opener against the University of Calgary Dinos, but was postponed to a later date.
Sunday evening was home opener at Griffiths Stadium, but with poor air quality once again the match was moved from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. against the Mount Royal University Cougars.
It was a defensive battle the entire evening with the score remaining scoreless at halftime, although the Huskies led the way with shots on goal 2-0. The Cougars led the way into the second half, jumping ahead in shots on goal with 3 to the Huskies 2, and netting the only goal of the game before being called early due to the smoke rolling back in.
The Huskies drop to 0 wins, 2 losses, and 2 ties on the season and will turn to next weekend in Lethbridge to find their first win.
