Wednesday’s W-H-L pre-season contest between the Saskatoon Blades and Prince Albert Raiders was played in front of a sold-out crowd in the 1,200 range at the Jim Neilson Sports Complex on the Big River First Nation (ice surface pictured).
The facility was completed a year ago, in time for a W-H-L pre-season game between the Blades and Raiders. In that time, the 3,000 residents of the Big River First Nation have turned the multi-use facility, including school, into the hub of the community. The Jim Neilson Sports Complex will host a doubleheader of non-conference Canada West men’s hockey games between the U of S Huskies and Regina Cougars tomorrow and Saturday, as well as a Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League exhibition game between the La Ronge Ice Wolves and the Nipawin Hawks on Friday, September 15th.
