Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope will continue this Sunday along Saskatoon’s riverbanks and bridges. Sarah McIvor, Chairperson of the Saskatoon Terry Fox Local Committee, says the run will kick off in the Bessborough Gardens and continue along Saskatoon’s riverbanks and bridges. There are 2.5, five, and 10 kilometer run options, and participants are asked to check in at the registration table at 11:00am, even if they have already registered online. There will be a short opening ceremony to follow, with the run beginning at 12:00pm.
She adds that donors to the organization should feel very confident that their money is making a difference in the lives of cancer patients, as she has seen the impacts that the money raised creates on a regular basis. McIvor, a cancer survivor herself, says donations support only the top five per cent of Canadian cancer researchers and their science. The Saskatoon Committee’s goal is to raise $26,000 this year to put towards cancer research.
