Greg Fertuck is back in Saskatoon Court of King’s Bench tomorrow afternoon (Fri), charged with first degree murder and indignity to human remains in the death of his estranged wife, Sheree Fertuck. She was last seen in December of 2015 leaving her family’s farmyard east of Kenaston. Her body has never been found but her truck, keys, coat and cell phone were later located at a local gravel pit.
Greg Fertuck was charged in June of 2019. There were trial delays because of the pandemic and then a series of voir dires, or trials within a trial about evidence related to a Mr. Big sting and whether it should be admissible. Then before that decision was made, the Crown applied to submit new evidence. Following that, Fertuck fired his lawyers and chose to represent himself, and then called back to the stand two witnesses – a gun expert and his former girlfriend.
Justice Richard Danyliuk is expected to announce his decision on the admission of evidence Friday afternoon at 2. It has been over four years since Fertuck was charged and almost 8 years since his wife Sheree was reported missing.
