The first full week of October is Mental illness Awareness Week. Curtis Harman joins us from the Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan to speak of their anti-stigma education programs, recreation & social programs for people living with mental illnesses, & a family recovery program. He also speaks about his own journey with bipolar disorder, and where someone should look if they suspect they may be suffering from a mental illness.
There are a number of places someone may find help if they are struggling. The Schizophrenia Society’s website has a lot of resources, and information on resources for other mental illnesses.
If someone is having a mental health emergency, call the Crisis Intervention Hotline (306-933-6200) as soon as possible.
Mental Health & Addictions Intake can be reached at 306-655-7777, or visit the local emergency room.
