The Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation says its annual Thanksgiving Cheer Crates have been delivered thanks to Canpotex and 38 Combat Engineer Regiment out of the Hugh Cairns Armoury. The Regiment provided the facility, personnel and deliver support for the Cheer Crates which are funded by Canpotex. CEO of the SPSF, Zeba Ahmad, says community organizations and volunteers worked together with regiment support.
These crates help over 750 families from 52 Saskatoon Public Schools with food, activity items and personal care items. Ahmad notes that the idea began during the pandemic and now they do it twice a year – at Thanksgiving and in February. The Cheer Crates are valued about about $100 each. Saskatoon Public Schools staff help identify families that would benefit from this support and Ahmad says others have come forward to have their names added.
