The goal of a new community hub for Metis Nation-Saskatchewan is to become a one-stop shop to access programs and support services.
Metis Nation-Saskatchewan’s director of social infrastructure, Jason Mercredi, says that the MN-S offers a number of programs which the community hub can help them to access.
He gives the example of government programming that the MN-S offers to its citizens.
Mercredi describe he community hub called Ma Faamii as a one-stop service centre where staff can help individuals and families access the right supports, they need from all government departments, institutions and community partner agencies.
Ma Faamii means my family in Michif.
The hub will also be a place where residents can go through the process to become a registered Metis Nation-Saskatchewan citizen.
Mercredi says the Saskatoon location is the first and the hope is to open more across the province.
