It may have been slow going for anyone travelling the main connector between Regina and Saskatoon on the long weekend.
In what is quite often an already congested section of highway, Craik RCMP set up a traffic check stop on Highway 11 at Chamberlain. There were 1,350 vehicles pulled over between noon and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Saskatchewan RCMP say officers completed 23 impaired driving tests; 14 of the drivers tested positive for cannabis use and were issued roadside suspensions. Two suspended drivers were stopped and ticketed after trying to avoid the check stop. Their vehicles were all towed. Officers issued seven tickets for infractions like speeding and using a phone while driving, and gave out 21 warnings.
