An intoxicated man is in hospital following an incident at the Saskatoon Police Service’s Detention centre Sunday night.
Around 9:30 p.m. on October 22, patrol officers arrested the man for public intoxication at 22nd Street West and Avenue U South. Upon arrival at the detention centre, the man resisted officer commands.
After being medically assessed and cleared by a paramedic in detention, the man was escorted to a cell where Saskatoon Police Service says he reached his hand out into the path of the closing cell door. He was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious, non-life-threatening injuries to his fingers. In accordance with Saskatoon Police Service policy, a Use of Force report was completed.
