A news release from the City of Saskatoon says road crews weren’t able to begin salting the priority streets last night until it snowed, because otherwise it wouldn’t have stuck. That meant they weren’t able to get all of the high traffic streets done before the morning. It takes about 12 hours to do them all but applying the salt couldn’t begin until around 3 a.m.
There is a chance that some icy conditions may develop overnight, so crews will be out on the streets monitoring and addressing conditions as they change.
Saskatoon Police responded to 19 accidents this morning between 6 and 9 and one of them involved a school bus at Forrester Road and Pendygrasse Road. There were youth on the bus at the time of the accident, but police say no injuries were reported.
