Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan didn’t let the colder weather bother them last weekend when conducting stop checks in North Battleford.
The CTSS partnered with officers from the Saskatoon Police Service, Battleford Community Safety Officers and Battleford RCMP. From this traffic safety initiative, 500 vehicles were stopped in North Battleford and the surrounding highways on October 19th and 20th. From that, 26 people had their licenses suspended for testing positive for THC and there were eight license suspensions for impaired driving.
Staff Sergeant Kevin Williamson of the CTSS advises that cannabis remains in your body for a long time.
“For perspective, when considering whether its safe for you to operate a vehicle or not, when inhaled, cannabis effects can begin immediately and last several hours. When ingested, cannabis effects can last even longer. When deciding whether to get behind the wheel, always make sure that if you have used cannabis or any THC products you choose other options for a safe ride to your destination.”
Among other infractions, there were 173 tickets issued for various offences including speeding, distracted driving and seatbelts.
