A 16-year-old male from Saskatoon is facing two counts of assault with a weapon after two incidents on Monday. Around 10:00 p.m. Monday night police were called to 22nd Street East and Pacific Avenue for a report of an injured person. Police located a 44-year-old man with a serious injury to his face. He was transported to hospital by ambulance.
About 15 minutes later police were called to the 300 block of Confederation Drive after receiving a report of a male threatening people with a large knife. A suspect was located and arrested after a short foot pursuit. Police say the suspect’s clothes had blood on them. The 16-year-old suspect was also charged with carrying a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence and failing to comply with a youth probation order.
The Serious Assault Unit is continuing to investigate whether these two incidents are connected. Anyone with information is asked to contact Saskatoon Police or, anonymously, Crime Stoppers.
