The series of events began around 7am when Estevan Police Service responded to what it called a “serious incident.”

An individual was taken into custody and transported to the police station for processing, according to  Estevan Police Service Chief Rich Lowen.

Serious injuries were sustained by the person in custody and a police officer due to an altercation while the suspect was being processed.

Both were transported to Regina via STARS Air Ambulance at approximately 11 a.m.

The Saskatchewan Emergency Response Team was notified and has assumed custody of the investigation along with RCMP Major Crimes. Weyburn Police Services is assisting with police duties.
