An early spate of Regina penalties allowed Saskatoon to take advantage on the power play, on the way to a 6-2 Blades’ triumph over the visiting Pats Sunday at SaskTel Centre.
A double-minor for boarding by Regina winger Brayden Barnett, followed by a hooking minor assessed to Pats’ defenceman Parker Berge just 35 seconds later – only 61 seconds into the game – led to back-to-back man advantage goals for Egor Sidorov (pictured) and the Bridge City Bunch never looked back. Sidorov ended up with a third goal later in the first frame, the fifth hat-trick of his W-H-L career. He added an assist for a four-point performance while Blue and Gold captain and centre Trevor Wong posted a goal and four helpers for five points to pace the Blades to their third straight victory, improving their record to 11-5-0. Rowan Calvert and former Pat Easton Armstrong added the other goals for Saskatoon, who out-shot 9-8-1 Regina 50-26. Rookie Evan Gardner made 24 saves in his first start in goal in three weeks for the Bridge City Bunch. The same teams meet again Wednesday in Regina, the fifth of eight meetings this season. The home team has won each of the first four, meaning each team has won twice. Following are the audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast, Post-Game Show interviews with acting head coach Dan Da Silva, Sidorov and Armstrong plus the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
