A potential tragedy over the lunch hour Wednesday in Prince Albert is a good news-life saving story instead, thanks to the knowledge of CPR!
A Parkland Ambulance paramedic, who is also a first aid instructor, happened to be having lunch with his fiancee at a Prince Albert restaurant when he noticed several people calling for help. He was able to relieve a person who was choking, only to have the man collapse without a pulse. The Parkland paramedic continued to perform CPR until an ambulance arrived that had already been called for. By that time, the choking and fainting victim started to regain conciousness and was awake and talking by the time the ambulance was ready to take him to hospital. It’s a story that ties in nicely with the fact that November is CPR Month, emphasizing the importance of bystanders helping regardless of medical training being critical to making the difference in a life or death situation.
