Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is investigating a homicide on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band in the community of Kitsaki. At 1:15 a.m. Saturday, RCMP received a report of an unresponsive male at a home in Kitsaki. Officers located a deceased man who is identified as 31-year-old Wilfred Ballantyne from Pelican Narrows.

As a result of investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, 22-year-old Mary Bird from La Ronge is charged with one count, second degree murder.

She will be in La Ronge Provincial Court Monday to face the charge.
