The President of the STF says she was sure both teachers and members of the public were involved in making more than 500 calls to MLA offices last week through the Saskatchewan Teacher’s Federation Tell Them Tuesday campaign.
Samantha Becotte questions why the outcry from the public for better public education funding still isn’t enough for the government to act, despite claiming to make policy decisions based on feedback from parents. In addition to the recent phone campaign, she also pointed to the 7,700 people at rallies for public education, and the 13,600 emails sent to the government since February. In terms of whether potential job action is looming, Becotte says they are working towards a goal of a negotiated agreement.
The STF says in a recent province-wide poll conducted for the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation by Praxis Analytics, 60.4 per cent of people stated that they feel the Saskatchewan Party government is heading in the wrong direction.
STF invites teachers, parents and anyone concerned about the future of students’ education to join thousands of others expressing their concerns on www.tellthemtuesday.com.
