The Saskatchewan N-D-P say they now have proof of what they have contended for quite a while now – that the Sask. Party government delayed the publication of numerous crown corporation annual reports and quietly buried them in the middle of a by-election.
In an N-D-P news release, Crown Investments Corporation Critic Erika Ritchie released a series of government emails obtained through a Freedom of Information (FOI) request. Ritchie says the government emails show that the annual reports for five provincial crown corporations, by law, should have been tabled no later than July 14, 2023, but the government deferred the tabling date to July 28 – even though the reports were available in early July.
The N-D-P contends the delay in tabling the reports allowed the government to release them while an election-time publication ban was in effect, thus not allowing the opposition and the media to be notified of the reports’ contents.
