A 27-year-old man has been charged with using a knife to threaten a passerby near the Broadway Bridge late Saturday night.

Police report the man—who appeared to be in distress and under the influence of an intoxicant—waved the knife at the person and later refused to follow police commands.

When it looked like the man was going to jump over the bridge railing, officers used a conducted energy weapon to safely subdue him. Police report finding two large knives in his pocket.

He is facing several weapons-related charges and also had warrants for his arrest.
