Two people from Big River are facing charges after an RCMP traffic stop in that community. Big River RCMP say Wednesday afternoon, a proactive traffic stop was initiated, but the vehicle didn’t stop right away, however it eventually parked at a home. It turns out the driver had a suspended license and no vehicle registration and he provided a false name to officers.
Officers report seizing just under 500 grams of cocaine, over 300 grams of meth, 111 LSD blotters and 63 grams of an unknown substance suspected to contain fentanyl along with drug paraphernalia. Forty-year-old Wilson Coutts and 37-year-old Marcia McMahon are each charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking drugs charges and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000. Coutts is also charged with identity fraud and resisting/obstructing a peace officer. McMahon was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Big River RCMP for failing to attend court.
