We told you earlier this week about the lengthy wait between pickups for waste in Saskatoon for some neighbourhoods. The City now says they made changes to the collections routes for green, blue and black carts, that start in the New Year, in order to be more efficient and reduce fuel consumption. The goal is to also cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Some neighbourhoods for instance which would have normally seen garbage pickup on Christmas Day, won’t have that refuse picked up until Saturday which is 19 days between pickups. Some Saskatoon residents took to social media regarding recycling pick up where there are neighbourhoods which will see, because of the new collection calendar, 22 days between pickups.

The City of Saskatoon urges residents to check the collection calendar to make sure they know their new pick-up dates.
