Wadena RCMP are investigating nine break and enters in Wadena and surrounding communities. Between December 15 and December 28 Wadena RCMP received reports of break-ins in the communities of Wadena, Foam Lake, Quill Lake, and North Shore Fishing Lake.
On December 15, Wadena RCMP received three reports of break-ins in the town of Wadena. Investigation determined an unknown individual or individuals broke into: a funeral home and stole a small amount of change and audio equipment; the curling rink and stole a sum of cash; the food bank and stole a number of gift cards.
On December 18, Wadena RCMP received two reports of break-and-enters. A business in Wadena and the senior centre in Foam Lake were broken into. No items were reported stolen to police.
On December 20, Wadena RCMP received a report of a break-and-enter at a curling rink in Quill Lake. An unknown amount of liquor was stolen.
The following week, Wadena RCMP also received three reports of break-ins at homes in the area including December 27th at a residence in Foam Lake, and two more on December 28th at two different homes on North Shore Fishing Lake. A side by side and ice fishing gear were stolen in one instance while the keys for a quad and two vehicles were stolen.
RCMP say it can’t be confirmed, but investigators believe these incidents are related. Officers remind the public to make sure all doors, windows and outbuildings are locked. Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity on these dates or have surveillance video are asked to contact Wadena RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
