The Saskatoon Blades ended a run of four games without gaining the extra point in the standings from overtime, yet extended their overall and home-ice points in the standings streak with a 5-4 triumph over the Victoria Royals Saturday night.
Brandon Lisowsky zipped a shot past Victoria goaltender Ryan Tamelin, who was making his W-H-L debut, off a clean face-off win by Fraser Minten, just 20 seconds into O-T as the Bridge City Bunch won in extra time for the first time since November 8th, a 2-1 shootout triumph in Regina. Lisowsky’s heroics allowed the Blue and Gold to up their overall points streak to 13-0-4 and their SaskTel Centre run to 12-0-1. The Blades appeared to be cruising to their 28th win of the season when they forged a 4-1 lead before the mid-point of the second period. But, Victoria chipped away at the deficit, tying the score with 35 seconds left in the third period on Logan Pickford’s second tally of the night, in front of 5,794 fans. Alexander Suzdalev, Tanner Molendyk, Easton Armstrong and Charlie Wright tallied in regulation time for 28-8-4 Saskatoon, who out-shot the 23-14-6 Royals 38-18. The Bridge City Bunch return to action Sunday when they welcome the Regina Pats to SaskTel Centre. Game time is 4 o’clock with CJWW’s broadcast beginning at 3:45 p.m. with the Palliser Rooms E-Q-3 Cutting Edge Pre-Game Show. Following are the audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast, Post-Game Show comments from head coach Brennan Sonne, Molendyk and newcomer defenceman John Babcock plus the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
