Saskatoon fire officials say due to the size of the structure where they responded to a fire early this morning (tues) in the Southwest Industrial area located between Circle Drive and 11th Street West, fire crews were challenged. They say the blaze was in a difficult to access location, hose lines were freezing, and it was slippery. Because of the cold, crews were rotated about every 30 to 45 minutes.
One of the calls to 911 shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday was from an employee who described the fire in the 100 block of McLeod Avenue as visible flames inside the wall space. Fire crews quickly located the fire that had been seen through a crack in the walls. Further investigation found that it may have possibly spread to the roof and once roof access was made crews found visible flames.
At 12:16 pm the scene over to the fire investigator to figure out the cause and damage estimate.
