The House of Commons is back in session on Monday, so political strategies are underway for all of the parties. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau revved up the Liberal MPs during his speech today (Thurs) as they met for brainstorming and strategizing. He talked about some of the main goals of the Liberal government including strengthening the middle class and supporting those working hard to join it, which Trudeau said is what they have been doing for the past eight years.
The Prime Minister brought up the war in Ukraine, saying what happens in that country matters not just because of its deep, historic ties to Canada. Ukrainians are fighting for their sovereignty, but they are also fighting for the international rules-based order, the United Nations Charter, and the principles that our parents and grandparents fought and died for in World War II. Trudeau stated that’s why standing by Ukraine matters for Canada and Canadians.
He also pointed to Canada’s relationships with many other countries. This country has trade deals with two-thirds of the global economy and Canada is the only G7 country to have a deal with all of the other members.
According a an Angus Reid poll, 41 per cent of Canadians would vote Conservative if there were an election held today and 24 per cent would vote Liberal. Twenty per cent support the NDP.
