An employee of the Lloydminster Public School Division was fired and the RCMP has laid charges after a theft investigation.

The employee is alleged to have stolen a deposit containing cash and cheques equivalent to $7,846.

The Ministry of Education included that loss in its report on public losses for the first quarter of the 2023-24 fiscal year, which ran from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30.

According to a news release, the loss occurred in June last year.
