Broadview RCMP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle early Wednesday morning on the Kahkewistahaw First Nation.
The call came in at 4:30 a.m. and officers attempted a traffic stop which was unsuccessful. The vehicle rammed the police cruiser before hitting the ditch. The driver was arrested and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while the officers weren’t hurt.
The vehicle was stolen from Regina the day before, on Tuesday. Faith Nelson from Broadview is facing a variety of theft and impaired related charges as well as flight from a peace officer.
31-year-old Faith Nelson from Broadview is charged with:
– one count, failure or refusal to comply with demand, Section 320.15(1), Criminal Code;
– one count, operation of conveyance while impaired by drug, Section 320.14(1)(a), Criminal Code;
– two counts, mischief over $5000, Section 430(3), Criminal Code;
– one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, Section 320.13(2), Criminal Code;
– one count, theft over $5000, Section 334(a), Criminal Code;
– one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code;
– one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code.
