A news release from the provincial government states that housing starts are up over 62 per cent over the last year, comparing December of 2022 to 2023. That’s the third highest in the country. Trade and Export Development Minister Jeremy Harrison says it’s a reflection of Saskatchewan’s economic climate where individuals and businesses are confident making long-term investment.
Statistics Canada’s numbers also indicate that building permits were down 14 per cent when you look at November to December and the number of residential units created was down 22 per cent.
