Saturday night’s Coldest Night of the Year event is a fundraiser for the YWCA which has embarked on a campaign to raise $19 million for a new transitional housing wing as well as repairs and renovations to the existing facility.

Kristen Grenci with the YWCA says going on a 2.5 or 5 kilometre walk certainly brings home the reality of being unhoused in the winter. It’s a family friendly walk with check in and welcome at 4 pm and the starting point is the YWCA.

The YWCA had to turn away more than 42-hundred women and children in 2022 and that’s because the shelter is always full.  Click here for event day details and to sign up.
