Over $32,000 was raised at a dinner on the weekend in Swift Current, before expenses, with the balance going to aid Chris Barber in paying his legal fees.
More than 650 people attended, paying $50 for their ticket, which bought them a meal and live entertainment in the form of a musical performance featuring Tamara Lich. Barber and Lich are both Freedmon Convoy organizers.
Barber faces legal charges related to the events that took place in Ottawa. He, and other leaders from the group, have been involved in court proceedings for 40 days now which he characterizes as holding them personally responsible for everyone who was in Ottawa in the protest of February of 2022,
His list of charges includes offences of mischief, counselling others to disobey a court order, counselling intimidation, counselling obstruction of police, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
