A four-day operation, designed to assist the Pelican Narrows RCMP detachment with violent crime and drugs, took a bite out of the activity between last Friday and Monday.
The Saskatchewan RCMP’s La Ronge Crime Reduction Team and Police Dog Services worked with the Pelican Narrows detachment to seize five illegal firearms, 12 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of methamphetamine, ammunition and a sum of cash (pictured) while five people were arrested, charged and remanded into custody as a result of five separate investigations in the Pelican Narrows community over the weekend. In three of the incidents, gunshots were fired – in one incident two individuals chased and discharged a firearm at a lone male on a residential street in Pelican Narrows.
Two of the people arrested cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act while 20-year-old Corbin Custer, 28-year-old Kelly Ballantyne and 24-year-old Sunshine Ballantyne were arrested on various firearms and illicit drug charges. Some investigations from the operation continue.
