Just before 11:30 Sunday morning, Battlefords RCMP responded to a report of a serious assault on Red Pheasant Cree Nation. A news release from the RCMP says officers determined a man approached an individual and assaulted them. The victim was transported to hospital with injuries described as serious in nature.
Police report that the man initially gave a false name when he was arrested shortly after officers responded to the assault. Forty-two-year-old Travis Wuttunee, who is from Red Pheasant Cree Nation, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and resist/obstruct a peace officer. He appears in North Battleford Provincial Court on Tuesday.
