The Government of Saskatchewan is hyping a Statistics Canada report Monday that shows the province ranks third in the country for year-over-year growth in investment in building construction.
At the same time, the Government of Saskatchewan is claiming to have the third-lowest unemployment rate in Canada following a February in which 18,700 new full-time jobs were added in the province, thanks in large part to $12.4 billion in private sector capital investment that came into Saskatchewan in 2023. In a news release, the provincial department of Trade and Export Development quotes a StatsCan report showing a, seasonally-adjusted, 18.4 per cent increase in investment in building construction for January of this year compared to January of 2023. In addition, the StatsCan report shows Saskatchewan had a, seasonally-adjusted, two-point-one percent rise in month-over-month growth from December of 2023 to January of this year. The amount invested in building construction projects in the province in January of this year was 433 million dollars.
