A 30-year-old Saskatoon woman and a 34-year-old Blaine Lake man are facing 29 criminal code charges following an evade police incident Sunday.
Around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night members of the Air Support Unit spotted a suspicious vehicle near 33rd Street West and Junor Avenue and but the vehicle took off when a police cruiser tried to pull it over. Police say the suspect vehicle was driving at excessive speeds and into oncoming lanes of traffic.
The vehicle travelled out of the city, west on Highway 14, where members of ASU spotted what appeared to be a gun and ammunition being thrown from the vehicle. The suspect vehicle ran off a grid road and became stuck. The occupants of the vehicle were arrested.
The SUV and license plate were found to be stolen. Police also say officers located a sawed-off shotgun where the suspects were seen to have thrown it from the vehicle.
Charges include Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace, Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, along with numerous weapons offences. Both were wanted on outstanding warrants, and the man from Blaine Lake was found to be in breach of conditional sentence and probation.
