A short film has been released about the Ile-a-la-Crosse Residential School Survivors and their continued wait for the school to be formally recognized as a residential school and compensated by the federal and provincial governments.
The Survivors Committee is waiting to hear a King’s Bench ruling that could allow a class action suit to continue.
The film “Waiting for Justice” was named this year’s Best History Film at the Toronto Documentary Festival.
It was co-produced with support from Metis Nation-Saskatchewan.
MN-S President, Glen McCallum says, “While the film has garnered this prestigious recognition, our Survivors have not. It’s difficult to celebrate the award knowing that Survivors are still looking for restitution.”
