There were multiple incidents of bear spray being deployed Thursday in Saskatoon. Police received their first call around 2 a.m. from the 300 block of Fairmont Drive where it was reported bear spray hade been sprayed through an open wind by an unknown person. Firefighters ventilated the home and the two adults and four children, who had self evacuated and suffered mild symptoms from bear spray exposure, were allowed to return.
Then, around 10:00 a.m., police were called to the 100 block of Avenue T South for a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from the effects of bear spray. The man was taken to hospital by Medavie Health Services West but the police investigation revealed the victim was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant so he was also arrested.
Finally around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday police were called to the 3300 block of Centennial Drive after receiving yet another report of a man being bear sprayed. The police investigation determined three teens went to the home to confront someone living there but the man who answered the door wasn’t that person. They discharged bear spray in the victim’s face. A 13 year old male was arrested at a home in the 100 block of Haviland Crescent and has been charged with assault with a weapon.
